Magical books. Real world meaning. This is the space where the story doesn't end when you close the book.
READING BETWEEN WORLDS
Reading Between Worlds is a community for readers who believe that the best fantasy, sci-fi, magical realism, and speculative fiction has something real to say about the world we're living in. Every magical world is really just this world with the truth turned up loud enough to finally hear it. It's about power, identity, justice, and how we live beyond the pages. πͺThis is where magic meets meaning β and where readers who think deeply about stories find their people. β¨
WHAT WE EXPLORE
Here at Reading Between Worlds we read across the full spectrum of magical fiction β because every genre has its own way of holding up a mirror to the world.
Fantasy β epic worlds, ancient mythologies, and battles between forces that always say something about the ones we're fighting in real life.
Magical Realism β stories set in this world, where magic lives just beneath the surface and reminds us that our own lives are already layered with something more.
Science Fiction β imagined futures and alternate realities that ask the hardest questions about who we are and where we're headed.
Speculative Fiction β the what ifs and the what could bes that push us to imagine the world we're trying to build.
Different doors. Same magic. β¨
WHAT YOU'LL FIND HERE
The Between Worlds Bulletin π A monthly newsletter with book recs, real world reflections, and something to take with you beyond the pages. Every issue centers around a theme β identity, resistance, joy, love β and explores it through the stories that hold it best. Because the story doesn't end when we close the book. It never does.
The Reading Room πͺ A Discord community for readers who want to go deeper. Come yap about your current reads, spiral over your favorite characters, theorize about what's next in the Empyrean and Acotar series, and connect the stories you love to the real world. The door is always open.
ABOUT ELAINE
I'm Elaine β a lifelong reader, ex-English teacher, and the person who has never once finished a book without asking: but what was it really saying?
My background is in English and language education β and whether I was teaching literature or helping someone find their footing in a new language, I always came back to the same belief: stories are never just stories. The worlds authors build, however magical or fantastical, are always saying something about this one.
When I left the classroom I didn't leave that way of reading. I brought it with me.
Reading Between Worlds is the space I'm building for the readers who do the same β the ones who finish a book and have to sit with it for a minute. The ones who feel something shift after the last page. The ones who want to talk about what it all means.
Whether you've been reading this way your whole life or you're just now seeing it β you're in the right place.
I'm so glad you're here. πͺβ¨
